Support IHP, we tell you why: 2 - denounces and sequestrations
Return to the list
05/10/2012
(5th October 2012)
Our association’s third birthday is around the corner: this the second of the five newsletters in where we tell you about our success and future projects, which are possible thanks to your support too.
In this first three years, we have checked dozens of abuse reports, took part in some sequestrations and submitted several petitions.
These are some of the
animals, sequestrated due to mistreatments
, we have received in our centre:
- From three sequestrations in the Pisa and Siena provinces, we received a total of five horses, three ponies, a donkey, a hinny and a cow: they had all abandoned to their fate on dilapidated grounds;
Domingo at the time of sequestration (photos 1 and 2 above) and today (photo 3)
- In May 2010 the entire breeding stock of a Standardbred farm was sequestrated in the
Siena province
(21 horses, 12 of them foals/yearlings). Some of them were given in adoption, while the others are still here with us;
- From a sequestration in
Salerno
– which followed a shocking reportage by “Striscia La Notizia”, we received four more horses and a pony.
Also, we have submitted several
petitions
for possible mistreatments: IE, the one in the
Asti province
, following which the people in charge of a professed animalist association have been charged and 12 equines have been saved and trusted to other people; or in
Ronciglione
, where the mare Tiffany died in a horrible way during one of the many, absurd palii; and then in
Larino
, where an ox fell during a palio and was dragged for several yards. Among our latest petition there is the one in
Nuoro
, where a horse and two donkeys had their tendons cut with an axe.
Every day we receive similar denounces of mistreatments, but
we need fund to develop legal actions
: this is another reason we need your help for...remember IHP is supported only by private citizens’ donations!

In the next newsletters we’ll talk about the scientific work, about the investigations and our future projects.
In the meantime, take a look at the many ways you can help us: we are supported only by free donations, that’s why we ask for your indispensible help.
Every
donation
, no matter the amount, is always precious for us. Some examples?
- With
5 euros
you provide for four days the drugs our pony
Arturo
– affected by a grave form of asthma — needs to survive;
- With
10 euros
you contribute to buy two rolls of elastic bandage or two bags of “wafer” hay for our older horses;
- With
20 euros
you pay for the fuel our tractor uses in six days;
- With
50 euros
, you help us to buy a bale of hay or a box of antibiotics;
- With
100 euros
you provide for about eight months the drugs our little
Miranda
– affected by Cushing’s disease—needs to survive ;
- With
500 euros
you help us to buy vermifuge for about twenty horses.
You can also choose to
distant adopt
one of the horses we saved:
click here to know them
and read the adoption methods.
To help us and in the meantime give yourself a touch of elegance, why don’t you
buy a piece of clothing “signed” by IHP
?
Click here to see them
.
If instead you want to give us a special gift
or have the chance to find stuff we need at very low prices,
this is our “wish list”
, some things we would find very useful but we can’t afford right now:
- wooden boards to enlarge the stable area and to build a shed;
- rubber pavement for the stables;
- one or more storage tanks for rain water;
- one hedge trimmer;
- two wheelbarrows;
- four mud tires for your jeep;
- two desk PC’s for our office;
- one 2-horse trailer to transport horses;
- one digger.
