IHP a Romacavalli presenta un quadro del maestro Carlo Romiti, donato all’associazione, che verrà messo all’asta

11/04/2012

(10 April 2012)

Carlo Romiti, a painter, sculptor, theatre writer and director, and a great horse lover, has decided to support Italian Horse Protection’s projects for the welfare of equines.

One of his paintings, depicting a bay horse in a statuesque and imperious pose, will be put up for auction and all the proceeds will be given to IHP, an association committed at the national level to reporting abuses against equines, to spreading information about their ethological characteristics, and to promoting new legislation to protect them. IHP manages the first and only sanctuary in Italy for equines which have been mistreated or confiscated by the courts under Law 189 of 2004.

The presentation of this initiative will officially take place at RomaCavalli (from 12 to 15 April), when the painting will be displayed at the Italian Horse Protection stand.
The auction will start on 1 May. Details will be published on the www.horseprotection.it website and IHP’s Facebook page. Enquiries can also be addressed to ihp@horseprotection.it

“We would like to thank Carlo Romiti for his significant support for our cause” - says Antonio Nardi-Dei, IHP’s president - “not least because he is an artist who likes to portray free horses in his work, and uses age-old painting techniques, exclusively using earth pigments from our own region, which he himself finds walking in the woods around Volterra, San Gimignano and Montaione. Thus his paintings perfectly match our association’s commitment to fighting abuses of these animals and all the various forms of exploitation that humans inflict upon them”.

IHP will be at RomaCavalli at Pavillion 5, Stand C9, where it will present its initiatives and campaigns to protect equines. IHP will also present videos made by its activists, such as the one filmed at the Skaryszew horse market in Poland. At the IHP stand visitors can sign the NOPALIO petition, calling for a ban on the use of animals in ‘palios’ and festivals, and receive detailed information about the activities of the only Italian sanctuary for horses which have been confiscated because of mistreatment.
