to learn how to volunteer for IHP
CHARLOTTE - October 2022
05/11/2022
- It will for sure not be my last time. Could I work something like that now full time.? Like give up basically all my life for one (very good) thing.? No, not yet, maybe far ahead in the future. But I would like to integrate volunteering more in my current life and for sure I want to start donating regularly to organisations like IHP. Organisations who are working relentless for animals or others who are less privileged

CAROLA - September 2022

- In a place in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by hills that host all the serenity with which horses live, run and graze freely. This is where the IHP centre is located: a fast-paced place, with a necessary routine 7/7 for 365 days a year, sun or rain. But if you love horses, this is the place to be. All the work, fatigue and effort are surely rewarded with satisfaction that no other experience can give you.

- Like all volunteers, I was very lucky to meet IHP. The first time I entered in the volunteer house I felt comfortable even with people I didn't even know. I felt good.

- Beyond the work experience of volunteering at IHP, I shall carry with me all I learned about horses from Sonny, his lessons on the management of senior equines, how to interact and approach, nutrition and the five senses...( and his willingness to answer my questions and clarify my doubts). My thanks too to Anna, who taught me so much as we chatted on our medication rounds (and sometimes the hill we had to climb to reach the group of horses seemed more a mountain), and she always found a natural remedy in her bag for each and every problem.

MARTINA - June 2022

- IHP was a truly formative experience both on a personal level, because it allowed me to get to know lifestyles different from my everyday life and allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, and on the level of knowledge of equines: in fact I learnt how horses' senses develop and their personal interactions.

- For three months I moved to Tuscany to volunteer at the Italian Horse Protection (IHP). It is with great admiration and gratefulness that I look back to this period in my life. I met fantastic people who are all fully committed to the wellbeing of equids. I am grateful for IHP to trust me with their most vulnerable equids, and I feel honoured to be part of this organization. Thank you IHP, I am sure our paths will cross again in the future.

MARGAUX - April 2022

- At IHP I spent a wonderful, intense and enlightening month that I will treasure. I recommend to anyone who has the will to get involved to make a contribution to an association that truly cares about the protection and welfare of horses, donkeys and mules. In this type of reality, animals are the stars of the show. We work daily to guarantee their physical and mental health, their rights and freedom. It is certainly a one-of-a-kind experience that spurs you to go beyond your mental and physical limits. At first the work is tiring and stressful; you have the impression of not being able to do anything, but with attention, patience and the desire to learn, day after day you acquire more understanding and practical knowledge of the work to be done.

- I needed no convincing – I’d been dreaming of my IHP experience for so long I was afraid it would never happen. But for anyone who is a bit undecided I want to put into words what a fortnight as a volunteer at Italian Horse Protection really means.

- My volunteer time at its Rescue Centre awakened me to the reality of horses and their world – you discover something new in everything they do, and they possess that serenity, nourished by IHP, which gives their true nature totally free rein.
