24/02/2024 - I worked for 2 weeks at IHP, feeding the horses and cleaning the stables in the morning. We also took care of them by brushing them (my personal favourite activity!), checking their health… you learn quickly and it is such a rewarding thing to be able to take care of them! Even if you don’t know anything about horses but are willing to learn, it is such an interesting experience and one you can learn from a lot! Would highly recommend!

17/01/2024 - I still remember waking up at dawn, breathing in the fresh Tuscan air, admiring the spectacle of the landscape, the trees and hills surrounding me, feeling a wave of adrenalin, excitement and happiness for the day I had yet to experience! My first day was unique. Those first steps, the ones where you can really contemplate one of the most majestic creatures on Earth in its best habitat, are beyond magical. These horses, who have endured lifetimes of pain and suffering, are finally running free, loved and cared for by their herd mates, but also by the amazing team at IHP. It was in those first moments that I realised that volunteering at IHP would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

22/10/2023 - My first visit to Italy brought me to Tuscany where IHP is located, with a beautiful and peaceful landscape. It was a joy to watch these horses which suffered so badly, live an almost normal life, with the care of the staff and nature. I really enjoyed my stay and was very happy that it was even possible since I am a minor. I would love to work there again in the future.

06/08/2023 - I spent a week volunteering at IHP and I must say that it was a positive experience that went beyond my expectations. It is difficult to summarise in a few lines the depth of all that I took home, but I can say for sure that I learnt what it means to work hard and expend sweat and effort for such an important cause, how valuable the sacrifices made can be, and how one can be satisfied and fulfilled even by carrying out, on a daily basis, tasks that are only apparently simple.
