...my treasures do not sparkle they clink,
they shine in the sun and neigh in the night...

Goodbye Arturo

08/03/2022

Today, our little Arturo has come to the end of a long life, much of it spent at the rescue centre together with his lifelong friends: a bond between elderly horses... very elderly horses, which often moved us.

He never lacked the affection of the volunteers, the caresses (and carrots) of the visitors, the meticulous attention and the therapies for his respiratory problem, which had accompanied him since we met him. The daily aerosol, the showers every two hours in summer to lower his temperature, the ventilated areas set up especially for him, the inevitable spring shearing: yes, because, in addition to emphysema, he also had Cushing's Syndrome and did not lose his winter fur with the arrival of the warm weather.

Arturo has received a lot, but he has certainly given back as much: he has been the darling of all the people who have been to the rescue centre and, above all, he has conveyed that sense of peace and trust in others that only an animal rescued from mistreatment, and which can live a long old age, can give.

In this regard, we would like to thank the many people who have adopted Arturo from a distance, some of them for many years, thus helping us to pay for his costly care and to ensure that he always gets the best.

Even with this awareness, it was difficult to say goodbye to him, just as it will be very hard to arrive tomorrow and not see him, punctual and impatient, waiting for his bucket together with Sissi and Romina.

Goodbye, little big Arturo.
