Ray needs your help
Return to the list
10/05/2016
On Tuesday last week, during morning rounds, our staff found Ray having great difficulty breathing. Once in the sick bay, we established that he had a very high temperature and heart rate. When our vet arrived she took measures to lower his temperature and help him to breathe better, and advised us to take him to a vet clinic, where they confirmed her diagnosis of severe acute pneumonia, and the horse was immediately put on oxygen and antibiotics.
On Saturday he was finally declared out of danger and we were able to bring him home to the Rescue Centre, where his therapy has to continue.
Clinic stays and medications/therapies are all very costly: Ray is one of our many horses which have been legally seized but for which we receive no official funding nor reimbursement from the prosecution offices. Everything we do for our horses we can do only because of the generosity of people like you.
You can help cover Ray’s care with a donation, even the most modest amount makes a big difference to us.

IHP would like to thank the ’Il Ceppo’ veterinary clinic of Monteriggioni for their help and to thank Nina Bertram for transporting Ray to the clinic immediately, and for bringing him back to us.
