What are the circuits through which horses arrive at the slaughterhouse? How many horses circulate in Italy? How many are slaughtered each year and where do they come from? Is it really so easy in our country to make a horse disappear into thin air?

These and other questions are answered in the programme 'Un piatto di salute', broadcast on 7 April 2016 at 20:20 on SkyTG24. Within the programme, dedicated to the relationship between food and health, is the investigation on horse meat carried out by SkyTG24 in collaboration with IHP.

Our investigations have taken us to horse slaughterhouses, but also on the trail of horses that have set off for a peaceful retirement in green pastures but never reached their destination. Interviews with veterinarians and experts help us to better understand this sad phenomenon and how it is submerged.
