Although I only spent a week volunteering at IHP, I learnt a lot, also about myself. Seeing so many rescued horses given the chance to live freely in a herd and in such vast spaces was truly touching. Every horse has its own story, but what they all have in common is the great fortune of having been rescued and brought to the Rescue Centre.
The first few days were physically demanding and it took me a while to get used to the work. Although it was challenging, this experience was very meaningful to me. Once you find your rhythm, you really appreciate this slower pace of life in the heart of Tuscany.
A huge thank you to the IHP staff who made me feel so welcome and gave me a wonderful experience. It is something I will never forget and will cherish forever in my heart.
