Filicaja is a place where horses live “as horses”. We have many daily needs. You can help us: discover what we need…
All our horses live permanently at pasture, at Filicaja we created similar conditions to what they would find in nature: they can move across large areas (over 100 hectares of hilly terrain in total), graze as much as they want (horses in nature graze for at least 16-17 hours a day); live in herd and have a normal social life. And they are barefooted of course! That’s why we say that they live “as horses”. But they also benefit from being followed constantly by our volunteers, who take care of them every day.
We rely entirely on donations from people that believe in us and in what we do: horses are a big commitment, meaning that we are in continuous need of resources. If you can send us food or equipment (or would like to make a donation), please contact us:

Here is a list of the materials we need, beginning with the most urgent items:
• First-cut hay;
• Mixed-flakes feed for horses;
• Round bale accumulator;
• Materials for making fences and shelters (stakes, wooden boards, electric fencing);
• Generators for electrified paddocks;
• Basic veterinary equipment: syringes, needles, bandages, gauzes, disinfectants;
• Waterproof rugs;
• Office equipment: chairs, shelving, cabinets, computers.
