Lilli, goal achieved: the fundraising campaign was a success

02/04/2026

The fundraising campaign launched by IHP to support the costs of pony Lilli's surgery and rehabilitation has concluded successfully: the campaign's financial target has been reached, allowing us to fully cover the costs of the procedure and the care required in the recovery phase.

This is a significant result, above all for what it represents: a broad, generous and timely response from many people who chose to trust our work and share its responsibility. An extraordinary success. The support received enabled IHP to meet the considerable expenses the organisation decided to take on, placing animal welfare at the centre, as it always does.

Lilli's story and the decision to act

Lilli is a small pony who was seriously injured in an accident that irreparably damaged one of her hind legs. To give her a prospect of a pain-free life, a complex procedure was required: partial amputation of the limb, followed by the fitting of a prosthesis and a lengthy, delicate process of adaptation and rehabilitation.

When the case was brought to our attention, IHP restated its position clearly: we are opposed to any form of use of equids, including their employment in riding schools and equestrian centres, such as the one where Lilli was kept. Yet faced with this small pony, one point was inescapable: Lilli bears no responsibility for human choices. For this reason, we decided to intervene, taking on the burden of the necessary care.

A difficult goal, an extraordinary response

The fundraising target was set at €5,000, established to cover the costs of the surgery and rehabilitation. Thanks to donations from our supporters, that target was met.

This success does not simply mark the end of a fundraising campaign: it confirms a principle that guides IHP's work every day. The protection of equids demands consistent choices, even when they are complex and costly; it demands transparency and rigour; it demands, above all, a community capable of turning attention and trust into real, concrete support.

How Lilli is doing today

Lilli is now walking with her prosthesis, with the caution appropriate to a journey that was anything but straightforward. The video available via the link at the end of this article shows Lilli's first tentative steps shortly after her discharge from the clinic. We will continue to follow her rehabilitation and keep you updated on the most significant stages, with the care and precision this story deserves. To all those who chose to be there: our deepest thanks. You made a responsible choice possible, and you demonstrated, once again, that caring can become a shared commitment.
