Heartfelt applause to the police for stopping yet another illegal race. This time, thanks to the use of drones, they were able to monitor the stages of the race, intercept the horses (which were seized) and arrest 15 people. This was an important and unprecedented investigation.

The horses involved are thoroughbreds: a very serious fact that once again suggests the link between official horse racing and illegal racing. This is why IHP continues to call for transparency in the equine registry and concrete and verifiable commitments on the fate of horses after racing.

Even more disturbing is the presence of minors: the fact that a phenomenon linked to organised crime attracts young people is a sign of a cultural failure that requires profound and urgent action.

IHP is available to take care of the seized horses: at our rescue centre in Montaione, we already host thoroughbreds from horse racing that ended up in the illegal circuit. We have rehabilitated them in body and soul.
