On 19 October 2009, Italy's first equine protection association and the first rescue centre for abused horses were founded.

Many field operations, hundreds of horses rescued from suffering or slaughter, and above all a clear and transparent commitment and mission: IHP is the first Italian association to oppose the use of horses in horse-racing, in equestrian sports of any kind, in folkloristic races and in any commercial and lucrative context, from carriages to circuses to riding stables, etc...

IHP's aim is to change reality, from a cultural and regulatory point of view, and to say stop to the exploitation and slaughter of horses, donkeys, mules and hinnies.
