IHP: Sonny Richichi reconfirmed as president

15/06/2020

The Association turns a page, with some new members and a new Board of Directors

On Saturday 13 June an Extraordinary General Meeting was held via videoconference, to establish a new board of directors following the resignations of Ilaria Castellani, Elisa Munafò and Agnese Santi.
Following this, new members were introduced: Francesca Genesin, Alessia Bozzetto, Giulia Cabona, all three long time supporters and also Volunteers of the Association, and Leonardo and Janine Musso, owners of ‘Tignano’, the property which hosts the IHP HQ and the Rescue Centre. The new Board of Directors is composed of founder member Sonny Richichi, Anna Vannucchi, and Francesca Genesin.

The President, Sonny Richichi, having tendered his resignation, then withdrew it following the appointment of the new Board, and was reconfirmed as the head of the Association.
The official transfer of the dedicated veterinary surgeon of the Centre was made, with Dr Silvia Mancini taking over the role from Dr Agnese Santi, who resigned for reasons of pressure of work elsewhere.

“The past 12 months have been really tough,” stated the IHP President, “marked as they have been by dramatic events which have profoundly taxed the emotions and the morale of many of our members, events including in particular a series of deaths of our equine guests, which to this day remain unexplained. Thanks are due to the outgoing directors, and to Dr Agnese Santi, for their hard work and commitment. Today IHP turns the page and moves on, with renewed enthusiasm sustaining its members, and with a strong Board of Directors at its helm, its aim as ever to continue the battle for the welfare of horses and other equids in Italy. Our new team’s first project will be the launching of an international campaign to stop the slaughtering for meat of horses, and IHP will be the point of reference within Italy for this campaign.”
