IHP and AISPA together for horses!
Return to the list
17/02/2010
(February 26, 2010)
IHP has created an important collaboration with AISPA, the well-known Anglo-Italian association, that has cared for animals in Italy since 1952.
Great changes are possible only if those who plan them are able to work in partnership to realize them. This is one of the principles on which all IHP activities are based and the collaboration with AISPA is putting that principle into practice.
AISPA (the Anglo - Italian Society for the Protection of Animals) was founded in 1952, following the death of the animal welfare pioneer, Leonard Hawksley. He had spent the early years of the twentieth century in Italy and had instigated many improvements in conditions for animals there. He achieved this despite many violent attacks and threats to his life from opponents.
Leonard Hawksley returned to England in 1931 due to ill health. He left behind 22 animal protection societies in Italy, either founded directly by him or with his assistance.
AISPA was born to continue his work and support projects for animals in Italy, maintaining a firm link with England and with the sensitivity of its inhabitants.
This collaboration represents for us an important source of help and we are very proud to have established this partnership, beyond a confirmation of the credibility of our work. For AISPA it means the possibility to extend their work to caring for horses in Italy.
