We are happy to announce that the IHP-AISPA partnership has been renewed for 2019.The Anglo-Italian Society for the Protection of Animals is a non-profit organisation based in the UK, and as part of its activities allots funding for Italian associations. We are proud to have satisfied the standard of quality demanded by AISPA and to have been given the opportunity to invest in equine - and other equids - welfare projects. The very existence of IHP actually depends on donations, since as you will recall we receive no public funding, or even reimbursement for costs such as emergency veterinary expenses, regular veterinary maintenance costs for horses with special needs, or for the costs of rescue operations in mistreatment cases. One story with a happy ending spurs us on: Innamorada and Navidade. We managed with great difficulty to get these two mares legally seized in 2014. They were shut in a ramshackle stable, starving and with no access to food or clean water. We cared for them and their upkeep during a long legal procedure lasting more than four years, until finally they were removed from their owner and assigned permanently to the care of IHP. The Prosecutor’s Office does not reimburse costs even when the owner is found guilty and sentenced. Nevertheless, this legal victory encourages us to persevere, knowing that we can count on the financial support of those who, like AISPA, share our mission.
