(13 November 2017) Steeplechasing takes place on a racetrack with obstacles to be jumped at full gallop. For this reason, it carries a very high risk of serious accidents for the horses. The latest victim of such a competition is Segona, a 6 year old mare who in her short life, like all horses in the racing industry, knew only stable, training, races, journeys in a lorry – in other words a totally unnatural life (during which by the way she had earned her owner over €13.000). But her life ended yesterday, when her leg was badly broken in a fall on the last day of the 2017 season, at San Siro. She was subsequently euthanized. Today, just one day later, Snaitech, a company which bases its earnings on horse race betting, is celebrating the increase in the number of people present at the racetrack, announcing a future partnership with the Politecnico of Milan.
