A final pat to Basset
Return to the list
20/07/2010
(20th July 2010)
Yesterday morning we had to accept the harsh reality: Basset has left us. The little pony that had conquered our hearts, and whose of our visitors. Our mascot, the perfect example an equine can be a great life companion even if it hasn’t a perfect conformation or doesn’t break sport records.
Basset had come to us on 16th April 2008, along with other sequestrated animals victim of abuses. Within a few months, he was back in shape and enjoying an abuse-free life along with other ponies. We never knew his age, although he certainly wasn’t young. What we know is he was a gentle and sweet pony, beloved by the children visiting us. A lot of them distance adopted him, to help us and to be near him—and it’s especially to them we give this heartbreaking news.
We’re very upset, as always in such sad circumstances, but we’re also aware we probably gave Basset the best years of his life. This awareness gives us the strength to go on and never give up.
