Marchino arrived at the IHP rescue centre in July 2014. He was rescued during the final stages of the seizure in Colleferro, Rome province. He was a semi-wild horse and therefore initially unapproachable. We gave him the time and peace to socialise with the other horses and then we began a slow and patient approach and relationship work. Today Marchino is a curious and sociable horse, he lets us trim his hooves and handle him but with care and skill, because just one wrong gesture (even just pulling a hand out of our pocket too quickly) is enough to make him go on the defensive. Marchino is a beautiful pain horse who still retains the charm of wild horses unaccustomed to human presence.
