Luna was one of a group of young horses in a stud in Siena, legally seized in May 2010. The owner of the stud was in financial difficulties and was no longer able to maintain the horses so that Luna, along with her companions in misadventure, was not getting regular food or water. Since the electricity supply had been cut off, the horses had broken out of their paddocks in search of food and were wandering in the surrounding areas at risk of injury. Fortunately the authorities intervened in time and today Luna is again in full health.
