...my treasures do not sparkle they clink,
they shine in the sun and neigh in the night...

JACINTHE

Jacinthe has a lot of grit, but at the time ofher confiscation she was thin, frightened and had a significant swelling in the rear leg as wellas suffering from a bad dermatitis. After a month of treatment the mare is as if reborn, she has gained weight and the swelling in her leg has almost disappeared altogether. She is semi-blind in her right eye but despite this she is lively, curious and independent and finally enjoys her new life surrounded by care, respect and protection.

Jacinthe is one of the four mares savedat the time of deathfrom slaughter in September 2020.  Comingfrom France, where they had first beenused on the racecourse and then used asbroodmares for many years, they had been transported to Italy withfalsified passports. After two changes of ownership, they were declared asanimals for slaughter in the Italian registry and taken to the slaughterhouse in Correggio (RE). After the seizure of the NAS we were able to getthe horses into custody, saving them from slaughter.
