Update about the sequestrated equines in Bubbio (Asti province)

03/11/2010

We publish an article from the Asl Asti about the sequestrated animals in Bubbio:

The pets sequestrated by the ASL are looking for an owner

Pets up for adoption: nine dogs and six cats trusted to the ASL Asti are looking for an owner. Who wants to take care of them?

All started last August, when a joint operation of ASL, Corpo Forestale and the Health Minister’s task force, led to the sequestration of numerous animals from the Asti base of the animalist association “Endless Love” in Bubbio.
The animals weren’t just pets, but also farm animals, all found in terrible hygienic conditions. Some of them were also starving.

“Right from the start,” explains Gianstefano Filippone, director of Animal Health Area of the Asti ASL, “we worked to find a new location for them, and to check, vaccinate and care for them. Most of the animals have been already adopted, but we are looking for families willing to take care of the pets still in search of a home.”

So far six donkeys, five horses, four goats, two sheep, one mule, one sow and one dog have found a new home in Asti, Monastero Bormida, Castello d’Annone e Mombercelli.

“It’s rightful for the ASl AT,” continues Filippone, “to thank the Azienda Agricola Fratelli Merlo, who transported and supported for free most of the sequestrated animals, Mr. Cesare Dania, who paid for all the veterinary expenses for the cats, the veterinary clinic San Secondo, who took care of the medical cares, and the Tuscan association Italian Horse Protection, who donated two trucks of hay and the vermifuges for the horses”.

There are still nine German Shepherds, males and female, aged 3 to 6 years, and six cats, all neutered males of about 3 year old: who wants to adopt them?
The dogs are hosted by “Con Fido”, a shelter in Nizza Monferrato, while the cats are under the temporary care of a private citizen in Asti.

For more information, contact the ‘Sportello animali d’affezione’ of the Asti ASL (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 1400 to 1600), phone number 0141.484026/23.
