8hours, the petition reaches 500’000 signatures!

31/08/2011

(2011, August 31st)

The European petition  launched to support the “8hours” campaign promoted by the German association “Animals’ Angels” and Danish EU Parliament member Dan Jørgensen, to limit the time of transportation of slaughter-bound animals, is doing big steps forward. IHP too is involved in this important battle, along with Europe’s most important animalist and protectionist associations.

The final target, predicted for 4th November, is to collect one million signatures in Europe.

Regarding Italy, while the collected signatures are a lot, we believe more must be done, in order to give a strong signal of change. In fact, Italy is one of the countries more involved with the “journeys of death” . Trucks loaded with slaughter-bound animals submitted to long and extenuating travels, during which they suffer hunger, thirst, unbearable conditions, injuries.

Animals’ Angels’ volunteers have been investigating on these journeys for many years, following the trucks from their departure to the final destination, documenting with photos and videos what happens during these journeys, and denouncing the abuses inflicted to the animals.

And us…When we see a truck transporting animals on the highway, do we wonder who is inside and in what conditions?

Now, all together, we must say stop to this incivility dictated only by financial convenience: every citizen can make their voice heard in this campaign, by simply signing the online petition here www.8hours.eu or by downloading the forms to collect signatures and then mailing them to IHP or Animals’ Angels.
