First course in Equine Ethology at Italian Horse Protection association

20/05/2011

Saturday 25th June 2011 – First course in Equine Ethology at Italian Horse Protection association, Montaione (FI)

Italian Horse Protection association, on collaboration with Dr. Paolo Baragli of the Pisa University’s research group EtoVet, is glad to present the first edition of the course:

“The Horse’s Dream”

What could be the dream of a horse? Every horse would want to have near him human beings able to understand the signals he sends, with the ability to interact with him using communication patterns understandable by equines.

How many times while you are in contact with your horse, you wondered why he reacted in a certain way at one of your action or to some kind of other event? The aim of this course is to help you to understand how and what our equine friends think, not to teach you equitation techniques, which you can find on many books.

The day you will spend with us will be an occasion to understand how the horse’s mind works and to become aware that his psychological mechanisms are the same of us humans, adapted in a different way to a species with biological needs different from ours, needs it is important we know in order to understand our horse friend.

The course will include theoretical (ethology, history of domestication, etc.) and practical (management, improvements of the horse’s everyday life, individuation and resolution of problematic situations) topics. Finally, an ample time will be dedicated to a debate with Dr. Paolo Baragli.
