...my treasures do not sparkle they clink,
they shine in the sun and neigh in the night...

ELEONORA - August 2020

At IHP days begin at dawn and after a quick breakfast we start the routine: the morning feed, cleaning of the centre, medical treatments and emergencies (horses always know how to create a disaster or break a fence, haha).
We repeat the same activities in the evening before heading back to our apartment, tired and sleepy after being out in the hot sun, but fully satisfied knowing we have managed (in our own sweet way) to offer a peaceful and dignified life to beautiful animals that unfortunately have not had a pleasant past.
I recommend that everyone roll up their sleeves and experience voluntary work at ITALIAN HORSE PROTECTION at least once in their life.
I thought I would find animals with problems and in need of care, but it was the horses who triggered an immense inner strength in me to wake up the following day full of joy and enthusiasm.
I wish to thank Sonny for his patience and for helping open my eyes to how these wonderful animals should live (stress free and without fear), Giulia for having tolerated me as a roommate, Benjamin and all the wonderful people I had the pleasure to meet during my stay.
