The European Parliament adopted by a large majority (698 votes, 452 in favour, 170 against and 76 abstentions) the report on the "Farm to Fork" strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system.  The report includes numerous references to animal welfare and protection and a more sustainable food production.

The measures requested of the European Commission also include:

- A BAN ON HORSEMEAT IMPORTS FROM THIRD COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH EU STANDARDS;

- A BAN ON IMPORTS AND PRODUCTION OF PMSG, A HORMONE FROM THE BLOOD OF PREGNANT MARES.

After this plenary session vote, it is now up to the European Commission to listen to these requests and translate them into specific rules in the coming years.

However, the Commission is not obliged to do so as the requests of the European Parliament are not binding: we will therefore continue to fight, together with the European associations with which we have been collaborating for years, to obtain these and other results.
