Notice of the death of one more horse at the Rescue Centre. This death occurred within the past few days, and bears certain similarities to the previous deaths, although at the present time we are unable to confirm anything.
Given the unusual situation we are confronted with, we engaged the services of the Istituto Zooprofilattico of Pisa, which immediately performed an autopsy. This Institute is carrying out urgent investigations into the cause of this most recent death, and assessing any links it might have with those in January. We have also alerted the Ministry of Health, the ASL of Volterra and Pisa, and the Carabinieri Forestali di Volterra.
We will communicate any further information as soon as we have it.
