Romina
Return to the list
Romina arrived at the beginning of December 2012. Together with another horse, Selvaggia, she had basically been abandoned, before being seized by the Corpo Forestale of Lucca and brought to our rescue centre.
It beggars belief to think that where she and Selvaggia lived had been an educational farm until a short time before they were found abandoned!
Romina is definitely the older of the two, but we really don’t know her exact age. When she arrived she was badly emaciated – you can see what desperate condition she was in when she arrived on our website

, and compare her with how she is now, in this photo!
Unlike Selvaggia, Romina has taken a long time to gain weight, not least because she had serious problems with her teeth (our vet had to extract two infected molars). But now Romina has come back to life and is enjoying a serene and healthy old age, much fussed over by our volunteer staff and all who come to visit the Centre.
